THE MANCHESTER ORCHESTRA SHOW REVIEW BY CHRISTOPHER T. LEE

The Manchester Orchestra show at the Sherman Theater on June 5th, 2018 really blew me away. All of the artists had a unique sound and killed their performances.

The first band, Half Waif was astonishing. The set in its entirety was beautiful. The vocals and beats were amazing and it was a fantastic opening to the night.

Kevin Devine, the second artist of the night put on an amazing solo act. The set was amazing, it included some of his original songs, and covers including “All Apologies” by Nirvana. Kevin’s voice is like no other, the range of his vocal ability really had me in awe. One of Kevin’s songs “Cotton Crush” has a bit of lyrics sampled from The Front Bottoms song “The Beers”. It was really great to hear that song in his set, and to sing along with the lyrics. Kevin closed the set with his song called “Brother’s Blood”, this song is a roller coaster of emotion and passion, I was so happy to hear him play it.

When Manchester Orchestra took the stage, they opened with “The Maze”, the first song on their 2017 album “A Black Mile To The Surface”. An inspiring, calming song to introduce the final performance of the night. Manchester Orchestra followed up with the second and third songs on the album, “The Gold” and “The Moth”. Both songs are definitely top tier in my opinion. The rest of the set featured a mix of old, and new tracks. The Audience was loving it, I was loving it, this show as a whole was just a great time. The two encore tracks were “42” a Bad Books cover with a Kevin Devine feature, and “The Silence” the last song on the album “A Black Mile To The Surface”. All in all, this show was a fantastic experience. I’m so glad I got the opportunity to shoot and review this event.
