STONE TEMPLE PILOTS WITH SPECIAL GUEST JOHNNY DEPP CONCERT REVIEW FROM THE CANYON CLUB VALENCIA

A JOURNEY FROM SORROW TO TRIUMPH

Stone Temple Pilots have had a road paved with sorrow and heartache over the past few years, very few bands have had endure such brutal tragedy.
On December 3rd, 2015 Scott Weiland original lead singer was found dead after passing away in his sleep on tour with his band The Wildabouts from what was deemed accidental overdose of cocaine, ethanol and methylenedioxyamphetamine.

During the time after Scott left the band Chester Bennington filled the void as STP's fromtman when the band played KROQ's Acoustic Xmas 2013, Chester stayed with the band until 2015 when he announced he was amicably leaving Stone Temple Pilots to focus more on Linkin Park. On July 20th, 2017 Bennington committed suicide by hanging at his home in Palos Verdes Estates, California.

Last night their sorrow was transformed in triumph when Stone Temple Pilots played their first show of their tour at The Canyon Club Valencia (which they sold out in four minutes) with Jeff Gutt as the new frontman and they were amazing to say the least. Jeff's approach is not one of trying to be Scott but in a way you call feel him in there as Jeff belts out classics like "Vasoline" and "Dead and Bloated" but make no mistake this is Jeff Gutt's band and he is here to stay!
As it wasn't enough having STP play Valencia they upped the ante with a special guest to play a little guitar on the songs "Trippin on a Hole In a Paper Heart," "Kick Out the Jams," and the classic "Sex Type Thing," the one and only Johnny Depp.
