ALBUM REVIEW: MASTODON'S EMPEROR OF SAND! 4 1/2 SKULLS

Image
With Emperor Mastodon have returned to the concept album, which for me is a major positive. As was the case with Crack the Skye (also produced by Brendan O’Brien) personal tragedy within the band once again inspired the lyrical concept here which deals with the idea of being “condemned” to death. In the lyrics a desert traveler of sorts is condemned to death by the “sultan.” In addition to dealing with the brutality of his sentence, the main character also reflects on many different aspects of life. Dailor elsewhere explained that the story is allegorical, representing real life diagnosis and treatment of cancer. While some of the band’s family continues to struggle on with illness, Bill Kelliher’s mother did not survive her battle with cancer. Not surprisingly, in light of this, the subject matter is pretty sobering, gut-wrenching and the music relentlessly intense. While obviously interpreted through Mastodon’s own personal experiences and presented with their unique, story-telli…

42 DECIBEL Announce New Album and Release Video!

Image
With their impressive debut album Hard Rock 'n' Roll (2013), the follow up Rolling In Town (2015) and fresh from their first European tour in 2016, 42 Decibel is making a comeback with their latest album, Overloaded, which will be released by Steamhammer/SPV on June 23rd, 2017. 42 Decibel has recorded ten new rock tracks inspired by the idea of pushing a piece of equipment to its limits. The band recorded and mixed with this in mind, so most of the equipment used in the recording was pushed to its limits; VU meters hitting the red zone, red lights flashing resulting in various types of distortion. Overloaded still carries the Blues Rock torch from the previous albums, but this time 42 Decibel cranked it up a notch to give a more explosive experience but with that same Hard Rock n Roll these boys are known for. With Overloaded,42 Decibel resolutely follow the course they set out on in early 2010 with their first 7-track demo and went straight on to put into serial production with…

Back Garden Light Releases Music Video for The Jackson 5's #1 Hit "I Want You Back"

Image
French easycore band Back Garden Light has released their cover of The Jackson 5's first number one hit "I Want You Back." Originally released in 1969 (and written by Motown songwriting team The Corporation), the new, heavier update still maintains the feel good vibes and even throws in some hand claps for good measure. "This is the first cover we've recorded in awhile and we wanted it to be special; something that is iconic, but also not over played," says vocalist Max Desgarnier. "We ended up choosing 'I Want You Back' by the Jackson 5 because of its classic status, it's instantly recognizable, and it has personally inspiring vocals." Keeping with the retro theme, the band chose to film the music video at Claouey Skatepark, the oldest Skatepark in France, constructed some time in the 70's. It was shot by Van Espen Studio, while the track was produced by the band's guitarist Matthieu Kirby. Back Garden Light's latest EP Lif…

The band's new album is expected to be released in June and will be supported by a five-week North American tour and performances at several European summer festivals. Further details will be revealed in the coming weeks. M-Theory Audio is the new label recently launched by Marco Barbieri, former president of Century Media Records and Nuclear Blast America. Barbieri says, "TENGGER CAVALRY is one of the most unique new bands, and I've been impressed how Nature Ganganbaigal and the group developed themselves to this point independently. By teaming up with an old friend, Dawn Robinson, as management and now working with us at M-Theory Audio, I'm excited by the upward possibilities the future holds and the fun and breakthroughs possible with their themes and great music."…

ATTILA "LET'S GET ABDUCTED" TOUR WITH BAD OMENS REVIEW AND GALLERY.

Image
PRESENTED BY SALOHCIN CLOTHING AND COENTHEBUTCHER!

Attila has been bringing the party from Atlanta to every city and country they can for over a decade. There was nothing short of fun chaos on their US tour “Let’s Get Abducted”. That should make perfect sense seeing how their newest album which was released in late fall of 2016 is titled ”Chaos”. They brought along an amazing line up of bands to get the crowd going including, Bad Omens, and Cane Hill. California based band New Year’s Day was booked for the tour but was unable to make the entire run due to lead singer Ash Costello’s injury she incurred to her foot right before leaving. On Saturday March 12, the gaggle of party animals made their presence known at the Chameleon Club in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. With a packed venue, the security had their hands full but everyone for the most part was there to have a good time and to start no trouble. Cane Hill thrilled the audience with single from their album “Smile” and had folks singi…
