SXSW REVIEW PART 1 - PHOTO GALLERY BY MICHAEL MULLENIX

Loyal Beasts, it has been quite a hectic week for your's truly, with the highlight of it all being the SXSW Music festival.  I dove into bars seeking the best performances and talent I could display here today.  Recapping the 1st day of my auditory journey, I started with some local showcases with The Homewreckers, Grrl, and Conway Seavey, both playing mid-day showcases on 6th street.  Made my way over the Acoustic-Rockin set of Finnish folk artists Steve N Seagulls.  These guys play cover of Iron Maiden and AC/DC on banjos and accordions, make it a point to catch them the next time they come anywhere close to you.

I hightailed it over to the Empire Garage for an interesting set of a group called Spirit Animal.  Think early Red Hot Chili Peppers mixed with some Rage Against The Machine and you have hit the vein of this group, definitely worth keeping an eye on this up and coming New York band.
