THE WORD ALIVE SHOW REVIEW BY TALIA FARBER

Image
I got the chance to see The Word Alive perform at the Santa Ana Observatory on February 20th as a part of the Dark Matter Tour. The Word Alive are personally one of my top favorite bands, and no matter what they always put on a fantastic set. This tour, however was a little different. The band’s new album, Dark Matter doesn’t come out until March 18th, and with that being said the band is playing 7 new songs, 5 of which haven’t been released yet. Now this can be a risky thing for any band to do because when fans don’t know the songs and can’t sing along they may get upset about that, or maybe even bored. But, the guys in TWA have so much confidence in the new album, and the new songs do not disappoint from what I heard in Santa Ana… Even though the sound was kind of covered up and not loud enough. If I’m not wearing earplugs and I’m not leaving the show with my ears ringing, then it’s not loud enough! The crowd was pumped, and that’s all that matters.
Most people have heard two of the…

Angel Vivaldi NAMM Interview 2016 by Talia Farber

Image
I had a chance to catch up with Angel Vivaldi at NAMM 2016 and asked him a few questions…

Talia: Explain what your project means to you! What is Angel Vivaldi?
Angel: More "who" is Angel Vivaldi, really! It's my artistic platform where I'm able to musically express myself and say anything that's going on inside.

Talia: When did you start playing guitar?
Angel: I started about 15 years ago as I was just entering high school.

Talia: What was the first guitar you started out with?
Angel: It was an old broken down acoustic guitar a friend gave to me. Definitely the most beautiful gift; changed my life!

Talia: Who are your biggest influences?
Angel: Guitar wise Mattias Eklundh, hands down. Musically so many- Jean Luc Ponty, old school Children of Bodom, Evergrey, Kaki King, Parkway Drive (Horizons only, unfortunately), Preston Reed, Dance Gavin Dance. List goes on.

Talia: I know you're sponsored with Dunlop, what awesome things have they done to help you so far?
Angel: They…

NICK JOHNSTON TALKING SCHECTER GUITARS WITH TALIA FABER AT NAMM 2016!

Image
Nick: Hi, I’m Nick Johnston, I’ve been an artist with Schecter Guitars for about a year and a half, I just got my first signature guitar with them which is very exciting, and it’s my third year at NAMM.

Talia: Can you give me a description about your guitar, what are some special features on it? Nick: My guitar is the first actual signature custom shop guitar from Schecter, so it’s a pretty big honor for me. It’s based off the traditional model, which I’ve been playing for about a year before we decided to do a kind of unique version of it. It’s pretty much the same in playability and features, but it’s got different pickups. I’m using Seymour Duncan’s Texas Hot pickups; it’s got a unique signature color, atomic silver. It’s got locking tuning heads, 14-inch radius, 25.5-inch scale and it plays like a dream.
Talia:Why did you choose Schecter of all companies? Nick: It’s funny, I had this impression about Schecter that they were more into the metal guitar scene and doing more of th…
