Blacktop Mojo "Dream On" (Aerosmith Cover) Music Video

Modern Southern Hard Rock Band Blacktop Mojo has released the Official Music Video for their cover of Aerosmith'sclassic hit "Dream On". The video was filmed by Nolan Cox of Nolan Taylor Mediain Palestine, TX at Audioworx Studio. The track, which was produced by Philip Mosley and mixed by Austin Deptula at Rosewood Studios, comes from the band's upcoming sophomore album "Burn The Ships" which is set to release in early 2017.

A close friend of ours suggested we do it, and was adamant that he knew it would turn out great... We asked our producer what he thought and he basically said "Well it wouldn't hurt to try it out". After that we learned it, went to the studio and put it down. Listening back we were pretty surprised that it even came out decent... We showed it to a small group of friends and they all said they got chill bumps. At that point we were comfortable enough that we at least hadn't shamed the song or Aerosmith (who we have a ton…

Gear Talk: Peavey Vypyr Pro Review by Jeff Novak

Upon receiving the Peavey Vypyr Pro my first impressions of the amp were that this looked like one serious piece of guitar technology. Between the numerous dials and multi-colored screens the amp features, I could see how it could be intimidating to someone who strictly lived in the world of vintage amps. I, on the other hand, always welcome new developments in the guitar world with open arms and a bit of skepticism. Once I plugged into the Vypyr, however, my fears were put to rest and I realized that this is a great amplifier that blends the sounds of yesterday with the technological advances of today.

The amp is small and portable enough to take just about anywhere, but I could definitely see using this in a medium to large sized club or a recording studio with plenty of room to spare sound-wise. The tone shaping possibilities of the amp are seemingly endless. Once you get a handle on how to change the different sound parameters, you can dial up almost any sound you can imagine. F…

Hoist the Colors Release “Mourners” Music Video!

The video tells the story of a man haunted by remembrances of things past. A found letter propels him on a bleary eyed, midnight adventure around the city of LA, searching for something he can’t quite name.

Josh Linden, the band’s lead singer and mandolin player, explains:

“With this video, we tried to touch on the major themes from the album - loss, memory, and searching to find a place in this world. Much of your life can be spent in the dark, trying to find a light at the end of the tunnel. If you look long enough, there always comes some point of redemption. That’s what we tried to communicate with the video for this song.”

The video comes hot on the heels of the release of Mourners, the band’s third full length for label Hardline Entertainment. The twelve tracks on this new record are brought to life by soulful melodies, driving punk rhythms, and a heavy dose of twang. Country influences - mandolin, acoustic guitar, lapsteel, and spanky telecaster lines - abound.

Statement From Danny Wimmer Presents Regarding Houston Open Air

Festival producers Danny Wimmer Presents were reluctantly forced to cancel the second day of the Houston Open Air festival at NRG Park in Houston this Sunday, September 25 due to dangerous storm systems in the area. An announcement will be made on the Houston Open Air website and social media this Wednesday, September 28 regarding refunds for those who purchased September 25 Houston Open Air tickets.
On the advice of Weather Decision Technologies, some of the top meteorologists in the country, Danny Wimmer Presents canceled the Sunday event soon after the show began.
Festival producer Danny Wimmer said, “The last thing we want to do is cancel a show, but we will not risk people getting hurt. It takes nearly an hour to safely evacuate a site—including consumers, staff, vendors, and artists--so they can get to safety before a major storm hits. So we have to make the evacuation decision more than an hour in advance, even if there is still a chance the storm might not hit.”
He continues, “…
