GHOST AT THE EMO'S IN AUSTIN, TX - PHOTO GALLERY BY MICHAEL MULLENIX

So... I've been wrong this whole time.  I've never actually listened to Ghost before.  No reason really, just never had an appropriate moment to pour through their discography and get the full experience.  About 2-3 years ago this Swedish band blew up and became the cause celebre in mainstream music culture, appearing on Coachella and other major festivals.  At the time I thought it was odd that a Black Metal band could make this kind of splash, so I decided to hold off till I could see the live show and witness the phenomena for myself... Then I saw them... Oh, Ghost is not a Black Metal band... well who saw that coming.

Ghost has pulled the greatest twist in music history.  I naturally assumed what with the Pope Hat, the face paint and robes, the theatrics.  In truth, Ghost is something more akin to a modern KISS more so than they are to IMMORTAL.  For example, take a look at a song like Stand By Him (the band's third song of their list), a song that could easily have come out of nearly any 90's Rock Band's catalogue.  Despite all of the very dark and ominous imagery, and not to mention Catholic iconography, Ghost is a band capable of rousing up a crowd with a slow acoustic jam as much as their harder hits.

Without further ado, from their Austin stop at Emo's on their Black to The Future Tour, I am proud to bring you, GHOST!
