RAC (REMIX ARTIST COLLECTIVE) WITH BIG DATA AT EMO'S IN AUSTIN - PHOTO GALLERY BY MICHAEL MULLENIX

This week another new exciting break from the normal, the Remix Artist Collective (RAC for short) Co-headlined a show at Emo's with Big Data with special guests Filous and Karl Kling.  An absolute eclectic buffet or more electronic artists, this unsuspecting tour has actually become best events I have seen descend on Texas in my 3 months living here.

With quick mention to Big Data, this power-pop group that more sounds like tech-lingo from San Jose that a musical tour de force, has elevated themselves to the heights of modern Rock.  Since seeing them at SXSW of this year, their stage-show has become a lot more refined, incorporating tour videos projected behind the band, a more dynamic lighting scheme during their, and... I never thought I would compliment this on this site, but a great dance performance onstage.  The singers Alan Wilkis and Liz Ryan have a fluid dynamic and are able to convey their bond a smooth, fluid machine in their live show.  Other than the awkwardness of starting and ending on two different versions of the same song (Dangerous), this was a positive step in the right direction for this blossoming music sensation.

Prior to the moment RAC took the stage I had never heard a single note out of this group, in the aftermath I am trying to make sense of what makes this a vibrant and inspiring experience.  It's not purely electronic, not purely modern rock, and some dusting of pop, this band is a danceable mix of everything.  The only consistent feature is key artist Andre Allen Anjos, who tonight was the consistent guitarist for the rotating cast of different artist.  Each artist would switch off roles, sometimes singing, sometimes grabbing an instrument like keyboards or bass and jumping into the fray.  For instance member Karl Kling was the bassist for the first couple songs until he took up singing duties later in the setlist.  It was a painstaking move that reinforces why they are both known as a Collective and as Remix Artist.  I am proud to bring to the site, RAC!
