SUMMER SLAUGHTER TOUR 2015 AT THE EMPIRE CONTROL ROOM IN AUSTIN TX - PHOTO GALLERY BY MICHAEL MULLENIX

YEE HAW!  Greetings from Texas, where I will be gladly reporting from now on.  Austin Texas is an audiophile's paradise, and this week was no exception.  As soon as I landed in town, This year's Summer Slaughter offering flowed into town to greet me.  Even with the unfortunate drop-off of Obscura and After The Burial, this year's extreme metal tour still boasts an incredible lineup with The Acacia Strain, Cattle Decapitation, Veil Of Maya, Born Of Osiris, and of course, ARCH ENEMY!

I will confess, I am warming up to Arch Enemy's new singer, Alissa White-Gluz.  Of course there will always be the intensity of Angela Gossow forever burned into my brain and ear drums, but for a singer filling that vacated role Alissa has developed herself to be an formidable front-woman.  The last time I saw the band, around a year-ago, I was rather neutral on the band's newest form.  After this performance it is amazing to watch her personality truly shine in this setting, and whip this band into an entirely reinvigorated creature.  From the get go the band jumped into staples of Arch Enemy's catalogue with Yesterday is Dead And Gone, My Apocalypse, and Ravenous, sounding absolutely beastly.  Then pepper in the new tracks from new album War Eternal, such as the title track and Stolen Life and the future glimpse of the band's current makeup becomes increasingly clearer.  It is my pleasure to share with you the gallery of photos from the first tour of my new city!
