POD AT THE WATERING HOLE - PHOTO GALLERY BY MICHAEL MULLENIX

Up here in Wisconsin we are surrounded on all sides by festivals, Country, Rock, Air shows, Paper Festivals (a real thing I assure you), etc.  Occasionally it is refreshing to break away from the big spectacle and chill out and check out a band in a smaller more personal setting.  Last Saturday POD descended on The Watering Hole in Green Bay Wisconsin, bringing a slice of California to the small northern town.

Of course the band lit up the small club, bringing back plenty of familiar songs like Satallite, BOOM, and Southtown, but the band used this time to preview new songs from the upcoming album, The Awakening.  In a way this was the testing grounds for songs like This Goes Out to You and Am I Awake.  What does stick out from this band is the diversity of styles and influences the band draws from.  Looking at a new song, Revolucion, while set up as a hard rock anthem at the beginning and end, the band embraces their reggae and latin music influences for a comfortable jam halfway into it. In addition to the new material the band also dedicated a large portion of the setlist to reacquainting people with the album Murdered Love, consisting of the majority of the performance.  It still feels like three years after it's release fans are still finding new and exciting deep cuts from that album.  Ultimately the band ended returned for a second encore with Will You, and stuck around shaking hands and meeting their fans.
