LUKE BRYAN AT THE SLEEP TRAIN AMPHITHEATER 2014 - PHOTO GALLERY BY MICHAEL MULLENIX
The house lights go down, the crowd roars, the stage lights are raised, and a wall of fire is ignited at the front of the stage. Then from the top of a his platform center stage Luke Bryan returns both to San Diego but to the cover of our humble publication. Friday, October 24th, Luke Bryan along with special guests Lee Brice brought the That's My Kind Of Night Tour to the Sleep Train Amphitheater in Chula Vista, Ca. Two of Nashville's biggest stars lit up this sold out show to thousands of die hard fans.
Bryan's set was a succession of hit after hit, starting on the tour's namesake, That's My Kind Of Night. After that he played through Rollercoaster, Country Man, Do I, and Crash My Party. Special to this tour was the Eli Young Band Cover of Crazy Girl where Lee Brice joined him onstage and Florida Georgia Line's This Is How We Roll with Cole Swindell. Special unique touches like those gave a sense of gravity to the event, seeing a once in a lifetime collaboration to the set. Seeing him sit on the ledge of a simulated peer for Drink A Beer, while visually drawing, also changed up the pace with a slower sentimental number. I think the thing that rang out most notably from the show was when he introduced the later songs of his set with an a cappella rendition of the song's chorus. For example, when transitioning to Drunk On You, he would sing the chorus first without instrumental accompaniment to get the crowd singing the words perfectly, then start the song proper. Of course at the end, he closed the night with Play It Again and Country Girl (Shake It For Me) as his encores.
Without further delay I present for you the gallery of Luke Bryan from his latest tour:
