NOTHING MORE INTERVIEW with Jonny Hawkins By Dawn of the Underground

Humble, genuine, committed, forward thinking, positive, and talented are just a few of the words that come to mind when I recollect my encounters with NOTHING MORE.  I have been privileged to interact with the band at several music festivals that I have assisted in providing coverage for. (Here is a video interview with the NOTHING MORE and Lacuna Coil at Welcome to Rockville, with – providing live stream interviews and backstage experiences)
NOTHING MORE’s musical complexity, and diversity is comparable to Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody. The musical ebb, flow, and texture is at first whimsically unorthodox, but you cannot dismiss the vocal ability, and overall effectiveness of the layered, dynamic effects and the musical changes which create an overall completed sound.  Jonny (lead singer/drummer) was honored with the comparison and said that that was what the band was striving for.

Metallica Announce Release Of 10-Year Anniversary 2-Disc Blu-Ray Edition Of 'Metallica: Some Kind Of Monster' Documentary Out November 24, 2014.

Metallica today announced they would release a ten-year anniversary 2-disc Blu-Ray of their long out of print, groundbreaking movie, METALLICA:  Some Kind of Monster on November 24, 2014.
Originally released on July 9, 2004, METALLICA:  Some Kind of Monster follows the band through three of the most turbulent years in their over three-decade long career, and gives viewers an incredibly raw and intimate look into the lives and psyches of the members of one of the most successful rock bands in music history as they battle their way through addiction, domestic life, backlash from their fans, and near-total disintegration during the making of their St. Anger album.  The documentary, directed by the award-winning team of Joe Berlinger & Bruce Sinofsky (Brother's Keeper, Paradise Lost 1-3), won the Independent Spirit Award for Best Documentary Feature.

EXMORTUS: California shredders pledge 'Metal Is King' in new music video.

Raise your fists (and swords) to the rousing track "Metal Is King" by shredders EXMORTUS, which provides the soundtrack to the group's latest music video. Taken from their Prosthetic debut "Slave To The Sword," which LA Weekly calls "a blistering blend of European-influenced, neo-classical thrash metal," the song features a prominent message echoed by drummer Mario Moreno: "Let it be known that METAL IS KING!"

Moreno reveals that the new video was shot in a small warehouse in the band's hometown of Whittier, Calif. -- "a straightforward video for a straightforward song," he says. Watch it now

"Slave To The Sword" has been heavily heralded by some of the metal industry's most notable buzzmakers, including heavy rotation on Sirius XM's "Liquid Metal" show with Jose Mangin and extensive coverage on influential blogs including (MetalSucks, No Clean Singing, etc). Throughout the year, the band has thoroughl…

Leaving the most near and dear to all of us for last, Suicide Silence.  It is hard to think that this band has been slowly making their way back to the world stage for just under 2 years following the passing of former singer, Mitch Lucker.  Their survival not only as musicians but as a band has been a testament to their sound and fortitude.  Their new album You Can't Stop Me says it all, and their appearance on this year's Mayhem Festival marks the first step in a new chapter for some of the best and most sincere people you could ever know in this genre.  Special mention must be paid to Eddie Hermida who does an incredible job of fronting this band, perfectly executing the old material and conducting himself admirably on the new songs.

Guys, good to have you back!
