Attorney: Randy Blythe Will Be Allowed to Travel Home

After nearly a month in a foreign prison, it looks like Randy Blythe may soon be able to return home. At least for the time being.
In a new interview with Radio Prague, Martin Radvan, Blythe’s Czech attorney, stated that the singer will soon be allowed to travel home, although he is expected to return to the Czech Republic for further investigation and/or his trial.
“Everything indicates that he will be allowed to travel home,” said Radvan in the new interview. “But he will have to come back either for further investigation or the trial, and that’s what he wants to do. As a world-renowned artist, in a specific genre of music of course, he cannot afford to simply disappear. This is a wrong assumption by the Czech police and the Prague municipal prosecutor who still believe there is a possibility he will disappear and never show up again.”
Radvan was quick to point out that Randy’s stature as a public figure makes it highly unlikely that he would disappear before the trial, saying, “There would be posters with his picture all around the world, and if he wants to continue performing, he will have to return. And he wants to return because he believes he is not guilty of anything he has been charged with.”
Blythe is now reportedly awaiting release after making bail, which was recently doubled from $200,000 to $400,000.
Blythe was arrested on manslaughter charges last month as Lamb of God arrived in Prague for a show. The charges stemmed from an incident in 2010 in which a fan died of injuries which are alleged to have been caused in some part by Blythe.
A statement issued by Lamb of God’s publicist following Blythe’s arrest last month sought to make clear that there was never an actual altercation between the singer and fan, stating, “Under no circumstances was there a fight of any kind involved. This incident deals with a fan that three times during the concert jumped the barricade and rushed Randy during the performance. It is alleged that the third time, security was not able to reach him and that Randy pushed him back into the audience where supposedly he fell and hit his head.”
