JAMES HETFIELD FILMS NEW PSA TO HELP BRING JUSTICE FOR MURDERED METALLICA FAN

James Hetfield
Tech student disappeared after hitchhiking home from a Metallica concert on the college campus. Three grueling months later, her remains were found in a field just 10 miles from the venue.
With the killer still at large, the FBI has linked the suspect to a sexual assault in Fairfax County in 2005 through DNA, but authorities don’t know who the person is and are reaching out to the public to help identify him.
The new campaign includes a PSA recorded by James Hetfield, describing the crime and offering up a sketch of the man in question. The Metallica frontman urges the public to come forward with any information to help solve the case. “Remember, any information — no matter how small you might think it is – could be that crucial piece investigators need to help solve the case,” explains Hetfield in the video.
The metal community has a longstanding reputation of being protective of their own so it’s no surprise that the band and metal fans in general remain invested in this case and finding justice for Morgan Harrington.
This isn’t the first time the band has stepped up to seek justice for their lost fan. After the crime occurred, the band offered a $50,000 payday to anyone who could help catch the person responsible for the murder.
The campaign urges anyone with information to contact the Virginia State Police at 434-352-3467.
