Hadad’s Lake in Richmond, Va., will be the setting for the 2012 edition of  GWAR‘s GWAR-B-Q festival. The location is where last year’s event was originally scheduled, but had to be moved because of difficulties getting permits. This year, GWAR frontman Oderus Urungus says the paperwork is in order. “All the proper arrangements have been made in triplicate and the proper demonic sponsorships attained. It’s going to be a stinking hot, beer and beef-smeared metallic murderfest of unprecedented debauchery … the most splat-tac-cular GWAR-B-Q!” GWAR will be headlining the third annual festival, with other bands on the bill including Valient Thorr, The Casualties, Ghoul, Occultist, Lionize, Antietam 1862, Highness, Black Naked Wings and Mutwawa. There will also be Spew-O-Lympics, food vendors and the return of the Sexecutioner to the GWAR stage for the first time in 12 years. Where has the Sexecutioner been? On a lengthy sabbatical beneath the catacombs of Paris with his good friend, Prince Ra…

If the third time is indeed the charm, then metal fans in the northern United States and Canada are in for a treat this fall. The thrash metal package of AnthraxTestament and Death Angel will do it all again, beginning Sept. 14 in Portland, Ore. The package first came together last fall, marking the first time that thrash icons Anthrax and Testament had shared a stage in over a decade. The three bands had such a great time, they decided to book moreblistering shows this past winter, and it appears they just can’t get enough of a good thing. Anthrax guitarist Scott Ian says, “We played to sold-out shows, raging crowds and epic war dances, and we can’t wait to do it again, especially for our Canadian fans who have been waiting a long time to ‘worship music’ with us.” Testament guitarist Alex Skolnick echoed those sentiments, adding, “There have been very few three band bills in which the acts are so compatible and the shows so consistent that a second leg of the tour is a ‘no-brainer.’ B…

New Music: Fear Factory – “New Messiah”

Industrial metal legends Fear Factory are streaming another song from their upcoming album The Industrialist. The song is called “New Messiah” and can be found streaming right here. If you would like to check out the first song released from the album, called “Recharger,” clickhere. The Industrialist is due out June 5, 2012 on Candlelight Records and is a being called a concept album. Vocalist Burton C. Bell has recently commented: “The protagonist (The Industrialist) is the incarnation of all industries in the form of an automaton. The mechanical, technological, and scientific advances through the industrial age led to the creation of The Industrialist. In the story, the automaton becomes sentient as it collects memories with each passing day. Through observation and learning, it gains the will to exist. What was meant to help man, will eventually be man’s demise.” To see a video trailer dealing with The Industrialist‘s album’s concept click here.

Carolina Rebellion hosted the reunion performance Korn fans never saw coming. If you weren’t one of the lucky ones in attendance at the festival, you’ll be glad to know you can now experience Brian “Head” Welch‘s one-off performance of ‘Blind’ with his former band via this pro-shot video. The May 5, 2012, outing of Carolina Rebellion played host to dozens of great performances from Shinedown,VolbeatSlash and more. Despite all the talented acts on the bill, no moment was more heartfelt or newsworthy than when former Korn guitarist Head joined his old friends Munky, Fieldy and Jonathan Davisfor a stroll down memory lane. “For a long ass time…this spot right here has been very lonely,” Davis said to the crowd of thousands from the area of the stage Head used to occupy.”This is weird…but good” said the current frontman of Love & Death prior to joining his old bandmates on stage for run through the stomp-worthy 1994 jam ‘Blind.’ After headbanging and dread-swinging like he never missed…

Stop us if you’ve heard this one before, but Guns N’ Roses turned up late for a show again. This time it was the crowd in Manchester, England, that sat around waiting for the show to start. However, rather than being unruly, a good portion of the crowd just left instead. The group was supposed to go on at 10PM, but it was well over an hour later before the lights finally came up for the band to play. By that time, it was estimated that only 6,000 of the 10,000 capacity had stuck around to catch the performance. Several fans went on Twitter to share their dismay over the late start. Fan Alison Parker tweeted, “I’m angry. Guns N’ Roses? No Goons and Losers. Had to leave for the last train before they even graced us with their presence. Disgusted.” Meanwhile, one audience member that stuck around followed the growing trend of hurling a drink at the stage once the band started performing. However, that being said, those that did stick around were treated to a 33-song, three-hour performance …

The Darkness' 'Every Inch of You' Lyric Video Features a Stripping Model

The Darkness have just released a lyric video for their new single, "Every Inch of You." But unlike most lyric videos, this new clip features an intricate storyline. OK, we're kidding. The video just features a hot chick stripping along with the intro of the track. Not that anyone is complaining.

"Every Inch of You" comes off The Darkness' third studio album titled Hot Cakes, which will hit stores on August 21 via Wind-Up Records. The record was produced by vocalist Justin Hawkins and guitarist Dan Hawkins with long-time collaborator Nick Brine and mixed by Bob Ezrin (KISS, Alice Cooper).

Check out the (kind of) NSFW lyric video for "Every Inch of You" below.

Slash joined Ozzy Osbourne onstage for his Ozzy & Friends tour at the Bergen Calling Festival in Bergen, Norway,  yesterday (May 29) for the first of 10 shows in which he will play with the group. In lieu of Black Sabbath dates, which were postponed when guitarist Tony Iommi was diagnosed with lymphoma, Ozzy and his famous and talented pals are performing across Europe, to the delight of fans. Slash, along with Sabbath bassist Geezer Butler, performed ‘Iron Man,’ ‘War Pigs’ and ‘N.I.B.,’ before returning to the stage later in the set to rip through ‘Paranoid.” The ex-Guns’ N’ Roses guitarist looks at home wailing on his axe alongside the Prince of Darkness. They make quite a well-matched metal pair, don’t they? Post-show, Slash tweeted: “Jamming w/Ozzy & friends was a blast! Too short though! Bergen crowd looked like they were having a blast as well.” When Ozzy was introducing ‘Bark at the Moon,’ he proclaimed, ‘The crazier you go, the longer we will play.” That’s a fair trade off…

Slash is busy making music and producing movies, and  now will also be the subject of an upcoming documentary. A two disc, 131 minute documentary ‘Slash – The Cat In The Hat: The Story So Far’ will be released on Blu-ray / DVD on Aug. 21. The doc’s distributor Pride describes the documentary: “The most iconic rock guitarist since Keith Richards, Slash has achieved the status of ‘most interesting hard rock act in the world today.’ And 20 years after the demise proper of the group with whom he made his name, he continues to build on an already remarkable career trajectory, while his old sparring partner inGuns N’ Rosesproduces pale imitations of past glories. This two-disc set includes a DVD documentary tracing the life and times of Slash, and a disc of audio interviews with the Cat himself during which he speaks candidly and honestly on almost everything he feels strongly about.” In addition to being the subject of a film, Slash is also making movies. According to the St. Tammany News, S…

AxeWound, the metal supergroup featuring Bullet for My Valentine vocalist Matt Tuck on guitar and Cancer Bats vocalist Liam Cormier in the frontman position, are letting no grass grow under their boots. The band is working quickly and has released a new taste of music, this time in the form of ‘Cold.’ ‘Post Apocalyptic Party’ was first issued as a free download so fans could get their feet wet, in terms of the sound and idea of this new project. The ‘Party’ has been followed by the equally mosh-tastic ‘Cold,’ which the band shared with the BBC. It has now landed online for your listening pleasure. The song mixes melody and maelstrom, but it sounds nothing like either of the principal members’ other bands. The song, which clocks in at just over four minutes, is nasty metal, with a touch of melody and clean singing in the chorus, which means the song’ll stick to your skull, but only after it’s booted you in the brain. Have a listen to the breakdown that roars at about two-and-half-minutes…

WITCHSORROW to release new album, "God Curse Us", July 3rd in North America

WITCHSORROW to release new album, "God Curse Us", July 3rd in North America
Title track available for streaming now on

The UK's Witchsorrow will release their new doom-filled opus, God Curse Us, on July 3rd, 2012 in North America. The title track from the album can be heard now on Also, an in-depth interview with guitarist/vocalist Necroskull can be read on

Witchsorrow are a prime example of a band that plays pure, epic, and non-pretentious doom metal straight from the heart. If their self-titled 2010 debut suggested that, God Curse Us confirms it across almost an hour of unsullied doom.

Recorded over Hallowe'en by Chris Fielding at Wales' ultra-remote Foel Studios (Electric Wizard, Primordial, Hawkwind), God Curse Us is an album that brings the dark spirit of '70s Sabbath forward to 2012. Capturing the dark essence of classic doom: heavy, mournful riffs; oppressive atmosphere, bleak, sinister vocals…
